Mitzvah Day 2023

Helping Hands had a very busy week last week!

We collaborated with Shoresh Nursery on at BNJC and collected some
cards made by the children, to send out to our clients on Mitzvah day.
We’re very thankful for this collaboration and want to thank BNJC,
Shoresh Nursery, all the children and everyone involved who made this
happen.

Our Mitzvah Day project this year was to support First Base, a project
by BHT Sussex, providing practical help to people experiencing
homelessness in Brighton and Hove. Thanks to so many donations we were
able to help the wider community and put together some bags full of
donated items. We also delivered soup to our clients across Brighton
and Hove on Sunday too, with our regular ‘Comfort in a Cup’.

Thank you so much to all of those who donated to the Mitzvah Day
project and the volunteers helping out on the day, including those
delivering soup. We really value your support. It has never been moe
important to come together to celebrate Jewish identity and support
our neighbours in our community and the wider community too.

Sarah from Helping Hands says: “It was very special being involved in
a cross communal multi generational event for Mitzvah Day. It was so
lovely visiting the nursery and meeting the children. We look forward
to sharing more events together”.
